IFA
Independent Feline Alliance
The
IFA was founded in 1994 to provide a facility for all cats and their owners to
enjoy cat shows and promote equal opportunities for all cats irrespective of
breed, parentage, sex, colour, or disability. A Championship show system
was evolved whereby all kittens, junior and adult cats could compete for
titles. The IFA has no controlling or
supervisory body or committee, and is just a co-operative of Independent Cat
Clubs who have come together to promote the health and welfare of all felines
and to provide any cat lover wishing to exhibit their cat with a simple and
enjoyable Championship system. The only ‘official’ post is that of Administrator
to carry out secretarial duties. If a decision, other than administration, is
required then all clubs possess an equal vote and the result is decided on a
simple majority. Each club retains
their absolute independence and autonomy to guide and shape their own destiny. There are no rules with which a club must
comply; just an agreement that when staging a show under the IFA banner it will
be conduct in accordance with the commonly agreed ‘Code of Practice’. The
complete edition is available to interested clubs from the IFA Administrator,
priced £5.00 and a smaller version for exhibitors is available from IFA table
at shows, priced £0.50.
